in association with our experienced partners, Poros Yachting
Academy which is an RYA recognised training centre, we have
a range of courses available from complete beginners up to Coastal
skipper standard, operated by professionally qualified instructors
from our flotilla and charter base in Poros. Live aboard courses
are on the dedicated tuition yacht up to a maximum of 5 students
per course. Alternatively we can provide an instructor for your
party on your flotilla or bareboat charter yacht, with costs being
subject to how many crew are participating. |

Pre
- Flotilla Refresher Course |
Aimed
at the rusty sailor with previous experience either with yachts
or dinghy sailing, this refresher course will increase your confidence
and cover basic navigation skills, sailing techniques mooring and
anchoring. On successful completion of the course you will be issued
with a competence certificate and can skipper a yacht within our
flotilla under the guidance of our lead crew.

Aimed at the
beginner or dinghy sailor, this course follows the RYA course
syllabus (non tidal) and will teach you the basics of being a
capable crew member including , yacht handling under sail &
power, rope work, man over board procedure, mooring and anchoring,
rowing a dinghy, and assisting with day to day on board routines
etc.
Recommended
pre course reading is the RYA competent crew handbook (ref CCPCN)

Day Skipper or Coastal Skipper |

Day Skipper
is ideal for a a sailor with crewing experience who wishes to
improve their skills in order to be able to skipper a yacht safely
and confidently. The Coastal skipper course is the next stage
from Day skipper covering advanced navigation, passage planning,
sailing in limited visibility, basic weather forecasting etc.
Course content follows the RYA course syllabus (non-tidal). A
tidal waters course extension can be arranged through our affiliated
schools in the UK
Recommended
pre course experience includes: 5 days on board a yacht, 100 sea
miles and 4 night hours sailing. Ideally students will have taken
the RYA day skipper shorebased course or have corresponding knowledge.

We also offer the Day skipper shore based course as an extension
to the above.

RYA
Yachtmaster |
This
course is designed for those advanced sailors who want to take the
RYA/MCA exams for a Certificate of Competence - Coastal Skipper
or Yachtmaster Offshore. The 6-day course is split into 4½
days training and 1½ days of examination and recovery!
The training will cover boat handling, navigation, pilotage, safety
with an emphasis on crew and yacht management.
Certification required before exam: Restricted (VHF only) Radio
Operator's Certificate and First Aid Certificate.
Previous experience required: for Yachtmaster examination: 50 days,
5 days as skipper, 2,500 miles,
5 passages over 50 miles including 2 overnight and 2 as skipper.
Also note that 50% of the qualifying experience shown above can
be gained in non-tidal waters.
Note if you
intend to take the examination in Greece, costs for Yachtmaster
examination will be the exam fee of £135, plus examiners
travel expenses from the UK.

Our
Tuition Yachts
Our main tuition yachts based in Poros and Aegina, are two or three cabin
yachts selected for their excellent sailing characteristics, seaworthiness
and quality of construction. The yachts are fully equipped with navigational
and safety equipment required of a dedicated tuition yacht to RYA and
Hellenic Sailing Association specifications.
Our course tutor/skippers
are qualified RYA Yachtmaster instructors and native English speakers.

The
above prices are per person as an add on to a standard flotilla or bareboat
holiday.
Course fees include: 3 or 6 days tuition on board our fully equipped
tuition boat, fuel, water and all mooring fees. Live aboard courses
include breakfast and one light meal daily plus accommodation on board
for 3 or 7 days and nights.
Rates exclude flights and transfers. Own Boat Tuition includes up to 2 students.For a flight inclusive tuition
package, add from £200 per person to the above prices for a 3
night or 7 night, learn to sail holiday. Examination fees does not include examinator travel expenses from UK
